Asha Carpets is a proud participant in this year’s BKLYN DESIGNS fair, which will be held in DUMBO, NY during May 7-9, 2010.

BKLYN DESIGNS™ is New York’s hottest exhibition of designers and manufacturers of contemporary furnishings, lighting, rugs and accessories made and/or designed in Brooklyn, all handpicked by a jury of editors from leading design and shelter magazines.

Asha Carpets is a boutique, Brooklyn-based company that merges the worlds of art and craft to produce design legacies of lasting impact. With a unique grasp on Eastern mores, Asha creates singular works of art that acknowledge the styles and patterns of various world cultures, and the contemporary vision of their diverse artists. Using the finest hand-spun wool, Asha’s carpets are hand woven in China and Nepal by skilled artisans, and the resulting pieces represent the ideal union of modern-day functionality and rarefied beauty. With several innovative carpet collections on exhibit for the first time at this fair, Asha Carpets is sure to make its mark.

Bklyn Designs is back for its eight year as is Asha Carpets with a twist to it's always very contemporary designs.
This year Asha thought flowers and ornaments will bring different angle to their collections and refresh design scene with new look.

PRIMAVERA - Refreshing blooms of spring suspended in the air. Flamboyant shapes and scale of flowers makes this design quietly surreal.
Hand woven in flat weave and other mix-weave techniques.
Custom colors and sizes available.

THIN RIBBON - This is a meadow with curvy road going through it, as seen from bird’s eye view. Between the curly lines on the field, stylized, overgrown and playful flowers can be seen.

ULAN - Inspired by 18 c Italian velvet textile design. Old uses, new concepts… Delicate drawing of subtle organic pattern creates decorative lattice of this design. Circular elements (where silk is used) are drawn by feather like shapes that bring order to complexity of ornament. This rug also has an unusual, very tactile surface that works with esthetics of antique textile.

TOULOUSE - Inspired by the pattern from 18 c Italian velvet. Regal elements of the design are bold and dramatic with silk added for the sheen. Tactile texture of this piece accentuates and mimics esthetics of antique textile.
